About the project

Viral infectious diseases such as the common cold and influenza can put a lot of pressure on the healthcare system, when healthcare workers tend to go on holiday during the summer. "Home sick home" was a campaign that had the goal of easing the load on the system. The public was encouraged to recognize the symptoms of a mild sickness and whether it was really necessary to seek professional help.

Sung messages such as "don't get diarrhea in the car" juxtaposed the homely cross-stitch look of the campaign and gained a lot of attention in Iceland. The campaign even managed to make an appearance at Áramótaskaupið, Iceland's most viewed yearly television program, and won the award for Campaign of the Year at the Icelandic Advertising Awards, as well as for the best poster and best direct mail marketing campaign of 2023.

Goal

The goal of the campaign was to remind people that the best remedy for common viral diseases was, in most cases, a nice rest at home. By learning the symptoms, we can help lighten the load on the healthcare system and prevent unnecessary visits to the country's health care centers.

Inspiration

The inspiration came from an Icelandic homely atmosphere in the vein of the popular "Heima er bezt" (meaning Home is best) cross stitches, especially common at Icelandic grandparent's homes, but with a more modern message.

The cross-stitch look of homely phrases get the message across in a cozy way.

Direct mail marketing

The message of the campaign was released and prepared in a cross-stitch version. Senior citizens crafts clubs got to try out the cross-stitch and it was well received. This direct mail marketing campaign won an award at the Icelandic Advertising Awards in 2023.
