IKEA has long become a part of daily life for Icelanders, as most own at least one (or many!) household good from the Swedish furniture giant. When we started working on the campaign we wanted to focus on this connection between the people and the products, especially with regards to their names.
Icelanders shop so much at IKEA that some product names have almost become a part of the language. Who doesn't have a Stockholm in the living room? Or some books in the Billy?
With the help of the young Swedish-Icelandic star of the commercial, Eiríkur Nói, we weaved the product names into the Icelandic language and simply asked; how does IKEA sound?
We wanted to produce a new TV commercial that combined the Icelandic and Swedish features of the furniture giant that everyone knows and loves for different reasons.
IKEA always sounds good!
A billboard ad was turned into a Swedish dictionary that taught the pronunciation of various Swedish products.
It's an unmissable part of the Christmas season to visit IKEA, whether you need something for the kitchen... or a brand new kitchen for Christmas! Therefore, it was an easy to decision to dress the commercials in Christmas attire for the holidays.
