During the Easter season in Iceland, chocolate eggs take the central stage. It is a big part of the celebration every year, with both children and adults enjoying the wide variety of chocolate eggs available during Easter. Nói Siríus has been at the forefront as a chocolate manufacturer in Iceland for a long time, founded in 1920, making it the oldest confectionery brand in Iceland. Therefore, it was a true honor for us to be able to create marketing material for this special time of year for Nói Siríus. Easter-related commercials start early in Iceland, usually shortly into the new year, and we wanted to explore that feeling of anticipation in our campaign. That was the main focus when it came to the copywriting and presentation, that something exciting was just around the corner.
During Easter, we wanted to evoke cherished memories of the iconic Nói Siríus chocolate eggs – and get people to want to choose them for their Easter morning. The goal was to remind people of that special bond that many have towards the Nói Siríus chocolate eggs during the Easter holiday and create space for people to bring back memories from childhood and beyond. By starting the conversation early (believe us, what chocolate egg you choose is a big deal!) we allowed people to start to wonder "what egg did I get last time?" or "what egg should I get for my children this year?" and creating that tether between the past, the present and the product itself.
We decided to put the chocolate egg and it's wrappings at the forefront of the campaign, with close-ups that catch every detail. During the photo shoot, the eggs were photographed like pieces of art, where the texture of the chocolate and the colorful aluminum wrapper were the key elements. The glossy and colorful packaging were used to evoke a longing to bite into a piece of fresh chocolate straight out of the wrapper.
Easter arrived unusually late this year, but that didn't mean we couldn't begin to celebrate early! We started off the campaign with this teaser.
The aluminum is revealed
Easter might arrive late this year, but the eggs didn't! Did you see through the wrappings?

We tried to be patient, but the chocolate eggs were simply irresistible. We unwrapped them from the aluminum and allowed the perfect chocolate texture, known to every Icelander, to shine.
